French youth to give NYE international flair in 2012

Stove needed: One of the families who is living in BIHN is getting ready to move. They need to get a stove. The landlord said it can be gas or electric. If you have one, can you please contact the church at 741-5581


Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat-all church event on Sunday Feb. 19, 3pm. We will caravan to the Franke Center in Marshall at 2pm to enjoy this musical based on Genesis 37-46. Tickets are $8. Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. See Ellen Arey or call 741-7162 for questions.


Ash Wednesday Services will be held at the United Methodist Church located at 200 Ellen St. Union City MI, Wednesday February 22nd at 7pm. Pastor Karen will be preaching.

Chili Cook-Off: Union City Ministerial Association is sponsoring their annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday February 25th at 6pm at the Assembly of God church, located at 501 Division St. Union City MI.


Kitchen Remodeling Project will have a meeting on March 1st at 5pm-anyone interested is invited to attend.


Benefit Spaghetti Dinner-There will be a benefit spaghetti dinner for Justin Skirka on March 9th from 5-7pm at the High School sponsored by Christian Women United.  We hope you will join us and the community in helping out this family.


Save the Date!: Union City Ministerial Association will be sponsoring the movie "Courageous" starting at 7pm on March 16th-17th, location to be announced. 


The Family Emergency Fund-we continue to receive requests for electrical, heating, gas and food assistance. This past year had the largest number of requests for assistance since we have had our Family Emergency Fund. The Family Emergency Fund donation canister is located in the Fellowship Hall. If paying by check just write "Family Emergency Fund" in the memo line...Thanks! -The Shalom Board.

Jan 15: Jump Street Swing Band-Jump Stree is a big band with a great repertoire. Here is your chance to hear classics from the swing era and contemporary hits. This band will make you want to get up and dance!

Jan 29: Kennedy's Kitchen-Back by popular demand! Kennedy's Kitchen plays tear-up-the-floor, break-your-heart beautiful Irish music, traditional dance tunes, and original songs, and the show is embellished with jokes and tall tales.

Feb 12: Trio Abelia-Trio Abelia is an ensemble which features French horn, oboe, and piano. The Trio members are three professors who enjoy making music together. They are graduates of Michigan State University and University of Michigan and love performing in this area.

Feb 26: Western Brass Quintet-Western Brass Quintet has entertained national and international audiences with cutting-edge, virtuosic repertoire for more than four decades. They demonstrate the expressive capabilities of brass instruments through their satisfying programs.

Mar 11: The Detroit Choral Artists-The Detroit Choral Artists is the premier choral group in Southeast Michigan. The group performs classic choral and symphony repertoire in addtion to Broadway and cabaret music.

This activity is funded in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the Michigan Humanities Council.


Help us save money! Please be sure to check your name off the list for the Chimes if you receive one in church so we don’t mail you a duplicate copy. You can also sign up for our newsletter by email or view it on our website. Just be sure to let Tammy know how you would like to receive it. The list and Chimes are kept at the back of the Sanctuary on the last Sunday of the month. Next Chimes will be available in February.


The Deacons want to make certain that all who would like to attend morning worship and other activities of the church are able to join us.  If you know of someone needing transportation or if you are willing to provide transportation, please call Pastor Karen at 741-5581 or talk to someone on Deacons Committee.

DVDs of our Services: Anytime you would like a DVD of the service, please let Jim know on Sunday.  A small donation is appreciated. Also, we now have audio tapes. Please return it after listening so others may use them too. See Lou to obtain.
